Import from Paprika

Bring your Paprika library into BrightDish

BrightDish reads both .paprikarecipes and .paprikarecipe files, so you can import one recipe from Paprika or your entire library at once.

How to transfer recipes

It's really simple:

  1. Follow Paprika's official export instructions and choose the Paprika Recipe Format.
  2. Put the resulting .paprikarecipe[s] file somewhere that BrightDish can access it, such as the Files app on your iOS device or iCloud Drive.
  3. In BrightDish, tap Import Recipe, then From a File. Find the file from step 2 and select it.

Categories

Paprika calls groups of recipes "Categories". BrightDish will automatically create matching Groups when you import a Paprika recipe that has categories assigned. That lets you migrate without losing all the organization you've done, but BrightDish offers some much better alternatives, such as Smart Groups. Try those!

Note

A Smart Group automatically gathers any recipe that matches rules you define (e.g. "every dinner under 30 minutes", or "every dish that has 'chocolate' as an ingredient"). You don’t add recipes to a Smart Group by hand; BrightDish keeps it up-to-date automatically.

Fidelity

BrightDish tries to preserve every detail of your Paprika recipes. However, the Paprika file format is fragile in some places, such as storing ingredients. It assumes that each ingredient is in a certain order with certain whitespace. If your ingredients don't follow Paprika's required format, they might not parse 100% correctly when imported. You can edit the recipes in BrightDish to clean up any issues.
