Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. Don’t see yours? Head over to Contact and email us — we read everything.

Does BrightDish work offline?

Yes. AI generation, browsing and editing all run on-device. The only feature that needs a network is importing a recipe from a website (since the website itself has to be fetched).

Where are my recipes stored?

On your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, your recipes also sync across your devices through your private iCloud account. We never see them.

How does the AI generate recipes? Is anything sent to a server?

No. BrightDish uses Apple Intelligence and on-device models for everything. No data is ever sent to a third-party server, including ours.

Which devices support AI generation?

Any iPhone or iPad capable of running Apple Intelligence. On older devices, you can still browse, import, and edit recipes; only the AI generation features are unavailable.

What’s the difference between the subscription and the lifetime purchase?

Nothing. Both unlock the full app. The lifetime license is available for people who prefer one lump sum purchase rather than an ongoing subscription. You can switch from the subscription to the lifetime purchase at any time.

What happens to my recipes if I cancel?

Nothing; they stay on your devices. If you have more than 12 in your library, you won't be able to add more but the ones you have will always be usable.

How do I share a recipe with someone?

Tap the share button on any recipe. You can send it as a .dish file (which other BrightDish users can import in one tap) or as plain text.

I found a bug. Where do I send it?

See the Contact Page.
